The Department plans and sustains the core courses like Engineering Drawing Practice, Mechanics for the students of all disciplines and also assists other Departments in teaching Industrial Engineering and related subjects like Management Science and Operations Research.

The Departments has the following well-equipped laboratories, All the physics facilities of the Department are located in spacious asbestos roof sheds close to the Main Building.

The CAD/CAM Center is equipped with 15 systems of Pentium-III 800 MHz Compaq Proliant and 21 systems of Pentium-III 450MHz Hp Brio. The software packages include AUTOCAD-2002. The department offers two B.Tech. Programmes- 1) Mechanical Engineering 2) Mechanical Engineering – Production.

The Department can handle the following consultancy jobs.

I.   Analysis and Design assignment based on the software packages.

II.  Performance evaluation of Petrol and Diesel Engines and Air Compressors.

III.  Engineering Properties of metals, insulating and other materials.

IV.  Testing of Pumps.

V.   Calibrating of sensing elements for pressure and temperature.
